The PADI Drift Diver Specialty course introduces you to the closest experience of zero G flying you’ll ever have. The course shows you how to enjoy rivers and ocean currents by going with the flow of the current, staying with your dive buddy, communicating with the dive boat and knowing where you are all of the time is a vital learning experience for this type of diving.

The Benefits

Drift diving is effortless and exhilarating as you fly along the underwater cliffs and reefs. You simply glide along and enjoy the experience of flying underwater while the current does all the work for you.

You will experience more distance and cover more ground on you dive than a standard dive. There are destinations in the world that have drift dives that cover over 6 Kilometres of coral reefs. By taking this course you can open new doors to your total diving experience and enjoy some of the worlds greatest dive sites.

What You Learn

  • Dive planning, organization, procedures, techniques, problems & hazards of drift diving
  • Introduction to drift diving equipment – floats, lines, reels
  • Buoyancy control, navigation and communication for drift diving
  • Site selection and overview of tidal and ocean currents
  • Techniques for staying close to your dive partner

The Dive Gear You Use

You use all the standard basic dive gear and some scuba accessories such as floats, lines and reels.

The Learning materials Included

The PADI Drift Diver Crew Pack, containing manual and accessories.

To Enrol; you must be:

  • A PADI Open Water Diver or Junior Open Water Diver (or have a qualifying certification from another training organization)
  • At least 12 years old

Path to Master Scuba Diver

If you have already completed the PADI Open Water course then you are no doubt eager to learn more. Continuing your diver education cannot be more beneficial to you as a diver.

It should be the goal of every diver to pursue the status of Master Scuba Diver. Continue your diver education up to Rescue diver and complete 5 PADI specialties of your choice to receive your MASTER SCUBA DIVER status.
